Edge Computing
We’re seeing massive investments in moving compute to the edge from Microsoft, Google, Amazon and more, and while improvements in bandwidth with 5G networks at the telco network level will support edge-to-cloud-to-edge applications, cloud providers need to push more compute to the local level – to the smart city, factory or hospital.
It makes no sense to send data from potentially hundreds of thousands of sensors and cameras to an offsite cloud. Keeping the data close-by enables maximum productivity and business agility.
Other applications use edge-computing for some data storage and the central cloud for more compute intensive applications such as big data analytics and machine learning.
Apex engineers are available to assist in your design of your IT infrastructure, IoT and IIoT across edge-computing, fog-computing and the cloud.
