Businesses Save by Outsourcing IT Support Services

Why spend more money on something if you don’t need to?

Businesses across an array of industries, from hospitals to banks and everything in between, are gradually shifting towards outsourcing their IT needs to reduce unnecessary expenses.

University Hospital, located in Augusta, Ga., recently announced its intention to outsource its IT support rather than build its own data center. According to its CEO, the hospital was hit with a $17 million budget gap because of the Affordable Care Act, sequestration and the fiscal cliff deal. Outsourcing its IT support will save the hospital $6 to $8 million yearly.

Similarly, U.K.-based Sainsbury’s Bank—a joint venture between the Bank of Scotland and J Sainsbury supermarkets—shared its intention to outsource its entire banking IT platform after the grocer announced it is buying out the financier’s stake in the company. The transition is expected to take 42 months, and FIS Global will be the company that manages the new platform. Company executives declined to say how much money they expected the move would save them, but lauded FIS’ track record on outsourced services.

In order to successfully navigate the waters of these challenging economic times, companies have to think of creative ways to eliminate unnecessary expenses from their already tightened budgets. Outsourcing your IT support to a dedicated team of professionals is taking a step in the right direction.
