May is here, which means a fresh wave of college graduates and interns are about to hit the job market. Chances are likely that your company has a few new hires lined up, and is making space in the office for them.
Here’s some advice: Consider including some basic cybersecurity awareness in their training programs.
A new study shows that 70 percent of higher education students say they are aware that cybercrime and cyberattacks are a threat, which is encouraging to see.
However...
- Just 35 percent think that cybersecurity is their responsibility;
- Less than 20 percent say they are concerned about cybercrime;
- And ninety percent are more concerned about their grades than cybersecurity, which could be a dangerous attitude to bring to the workplace. Someone with this mentality may be more apt to focus on productivity than safety, which could lead to risky behavior like opening an attachment containing ransomware.
Here at Apex Technology Services, we know that you and your team members are already overloaded and won’t have much time to devote to basic cybersecurity awareness.
We can help.
Apex is now offering comprehensive cybersecurity training for employees. We will provide an overview of the threat landscape, and go over industry best practices that could go a long way in keeping malware off of your new employees' machines. We can help bring your new hires up to speed quickly, so that they can get to work without bringing down your business in the process. Apex can also perform spot checks, to make sure that employees remain in compliance with your cybersecurity policy.
