We understand what you’re going through in trying to keep hackers out of your network. Some days, it feels like it’s your small company against the entire world. Cybersecurity is a never-ending, and exhausting, job.
It’s important to realize, though, that your business isn’t alone in fighting cybercrime.
More and more companies are waking up to the fact that the Internet both incredibly unpredictable, and dangerous. As such, we are seeing many companies bolstering their defenses and pushing back against cybercriminals.
In fact, in a study from Tech Pro Research, almost half of all companies that were surveyed indicated that cybersecurity readiness has improved over the last year.
As of right now, 11 percent of companies claim their cybersecurity readiness is above average; 28 percent believe it’s somewhat above average; 36 percent think it’s average; 16 percent say it’s below average; and 9 percent say it it’s far below average.
Here are some other findings from the survey:
Top ways companies are securing the network:
- Malware products (75 percent)
- OS patches and updates (72 percent)
- Application patches and updates (67 percent)
Top ways companies are creating a cybersecurity culture:
- User education (55 percent):
- IT staff education (50 percent)
- Ongoing security-related announcements (39 percent)
Interestingly, fifty-one percent of companies have cybersecurity policies in place; 41 percent do not; and 9 percent aren’t even sure.
What’s more, the report shows that cybersecurity policies may not even be all that effective at controlling employee behavior online. Just 10 percent of respondents claim that they always adhere to cybersecurity policies, while 46 percent do so most of the time. Nine percent never follow them.
The study did not mention anything about managed service providers (MSP), or computer consultants. Many companies are now outsourcing cybersecurity operations to third party consultants like Apex Technology Services. An MSP like Apex can provide access to cutting-edge threat detection and mitigation technologies, expert guidance and ongoing monitoring and systems patching services.
